Watch the 2015 FIM MX World Championship live on Motors TV

The High Speed Television Channel will broadcast live coverage of the 2015 FIM World MX Championship, as well as the Motocross of Nations held in France on September 27. The season will again start in Qatar, and feature 18 rounds.

Cairoli and Herlings: odds-on favourites

Last year, the FIM Motocross World Championship was subject to some regulation changes. The MX1 category has now be known as MXGP, with its race duration shortened to 30 minutes plus an additional two laps in the top two tiers. A maximum of 30 riders can take part in the MXGP class, with 40 permitted for the MX2 category. The reigning MX2 champion can defend his title as often as he wants, providing he is under the age of 23. Points in the Super Final are awarded as follows: 25, 22, 20, 18,16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Cairoli remains odds-on favourite

In MXGP KTM rider Antonio Cairoli remains odds-on favourite for the title after securing his eighth MX crown last year. However, Cairoli is sure to have a fight on his hands as he faces tough competition from the likes of 2014 runner-up Jeremy Van Horebeek and third-placed rider Kevin Strijbos. He will also have to contend with Ryan Villopoto, Clément Desalle and Gautier Paulin who has left Kawasaki to join Honda.

In MX2 reigning world champion Jordi Tixier will be keen fend off Jeffrey Herlings whose 2014 season was cut short by a broken femur. Other riders to watch include Aleksandr Tonkov, Tim Gasjer, Valentin Guillod and Julien Lieber. For more information, please visit the official  MX website.
