Test MitjetIf you are a regular Motors TV viewer, you most certainly have heard of the tiny Mit Jets. Now it is our turn to get behind the wheel of one those pocket rockets competing in the Mit Jet Series.

This machine that reminds of us the days when we played with our HoTest Mitjett Wheels as children has become an outstanding series for many who want to go motor racing without having to be a top line driver or having to break the bank.
The Mit Jet is built from a steel tubular chassis, is shod on mixed tyres and with a shell made from polyester. It is 3.6 metres long and is 1.6 weighing in at a slim 520 kilograms.

Test MitjetWhen it comes to the interior; there’s no mistaking it, this is a proper race car, nothing less.

Test MitjetThe Mit Jet is powered by a 150 brake horsepower Yamaha XJR 1300cc motorcycle engine coupled with a sequential five-speed transmission. The power to weight ratio is excellent and the engine promises additional fun.
Once you get going, you soon realize why the Mit Jet was built in the first place. It is a fun little car to drive and very easy to figure out.

Test MitjetWhile the basics are easy enough to understand, driving quickly and cleanly is another story, especially on a wet surface. The back end constantly wants to step out and this is accentuated when shod on a mixed set of rubber.

Test MitjetThe motorbike engine also adds to the fun. The choice of a Yamaha 1300 was wise. There is plenty of torque; it revs up to 10, 000 rpm with a raging engine noise. It doesn’t take long to get into the swing of things. This tiny race car provides instant gratification but you’ll need to put in a lot of laps to set some competitive times.
