Intro: PEUGEOT IN THE THIRD LANE

One year after the saloon, here is the 307 SW (Station Wagon). The product that is clearly situated between an estate and a small saloon, depending on the opinion, it is either a quality or a default. It doesn't stop the Lion from challenging the Scenic, Picasso, Bora and the Focus Clipper.

Esthetique: BRIGHT BUT NO TRUNK

A length of 4.42 metres, the augmentation is sensible with regard to the 307. It is at this level that the estate characteristics are most apparent. Never the less, the silhouette is not stretched and the notion of a monospace is seen in the line: at this level, we can say that it is a veritable alchemy, which is operated.
In the five-seat version, the trunk is good but nothing more. Without a doubt a deception for those who are searching for a real estate. The interior, clearly is improved. The big new change is the brightness of the roof area. This is a huge plus, very well lit. The other big force of the 307SW : is its modularity, with a multitude of combinations of new seats, from 2-7 seats, even if in the last case, the trunk is practically non-existent. Other good point : the central seat in the back transforms into a small table or arrangement compartment.

Motorization: A CLASSIC

We have tested the Hdi model (which is probably the most sold). It is one impeccable 2L Diesel. Very flexible, progressive and silent. Its four cylinders develop 90bhp, and a torque of 190Nm at 1 900 rpm. Two diesel motors exist, the more powerful producing 110bhp. The gas version has been reduced to 1.6L and a 1.6L automatic 16V.

On the road: HEAVY BUT AGILE

No bad surprises at the wheel, even if the weight of the 307 SW is greater and handicaps performance. But the suspension is efficient and the brakes are excellent. At top speed, we obtained only 165km/h, a small deception on the performance side, the increased weight (almost 1500 kg) doesn't play a part in the 0to 100, the 1000 meters from a standing start or the average consummation.
