A year ago we brought you the test drive of the estate version of Audi’s RS6, today we get the behind the wheel of the four-dour, the most powerful saloon on the market.





Much like the Avant version, the wheel wells have been widened and the bumpers and body bottom panels have been redesigned on the RS6. Weight has been reduced with the use of aluminium for the front wheel arches and engine cover.

The 580 brake horsepower twin-turbo V10 producing 650 Newton metres of torque is simply engineering excellence. On option, Audi offers to throw in bits of carbon in the engine bay and they’ll add a speed limiter, which will forbid you to exceed 280km/h…but we’re not sure the RS6 is capable of much more than that.



The car you see here has the black option pack that includes the grill, black lacquer air intakes and the two black muffler pipes. Completing the package are the 20-inch titanium wheel rims, which are also an option. Throw in some ceramic brakes at €9800 and you have yourself quite a hot rod. The RS6 retains its elegance while also being imposing and aggressive.


Audi has copied the interior from the Avant version. It is quite a treat to install oneself in the RS6 with all its luxury, ergonomics, carbon-fibre, aluminium and leather.

Now, the time has come to see what it can do on the track at the new Ferte-Gaucher circuit, one hour from Paris.


With the Sport and ESP modes activated its time to go and the corners arrive very quickly. The car’s power is almost too much for the circuit to handle. In turn the brakes are put to a severe test. This type of exercise has a tendency to accentuate the faults of an automobile…but having said that the RS6 is wonderfully balanced, more so when you remember this car tips the scales at nearly 2000 kilograms. After a few laps it is time to disconnect the ESP. The paddle shifting is very quick but can be just a bit stubborn at times, but you soon get used to it. The sound of the V10 is husky and vibrant as you like!

Audi has once again proven its savoir-faire when it comes to making a large sport saloon.
