Intro: MR MORE

Suzuki Burgmann 650Longer, broader, heavier, more powerful, the Burgman 650 is the scooter with the largest cylinder capacity. It is irreproachable on the road, but not in town. The philosophy of Burgman leaves the traditional field of scooters. It is necessary to leave time and mentalities to evolve in favour of this machine.

Esthetique: DEVELOPING

Suzuki Burgmann 650The last to come on the market, the Suzuki Burgman is over complicated. And is nothing to compare with the two-wheeled vehicle, which is the scooter of origin. It weighs only 238 kg less than the BMW R1150RT! Out of the ordinary, the Suzuki has just a dashboard. Here the liquid crystal display reigns without comparison. The number of information available is bountiful, just like the space under the seat. In short in a society where the means of transport is a social factor of identification, the least than can be said, is that the Burgman is a developing machine.

Motorization: POWER AND CONTROL

Suzuki Burgmann 650To power its mastodon, Suzuki has put the small dishes in the large ones. The selected option is a twin-cylinder engine which measures almost 650cc, and which releases 55bhp, matched with a torque of 6,3 mkg. From a standing start to 100 metres, it surpasses its considerable weight handicap. Thanks to the manual mode, the twin-cylinder propels the Suzuki in less than 7 seconds; it is the only one to pass under this mark. More impressive still than the figures, the technological vice to which Suzuki is delivered to equip its top-of-the-range scooter. The innovation is the revolutionary transmission. It is possible to choose between two types of operation: the Normal mode privileges fluidity with a continuous variator and the Power mode offers more muscular recoveries. In all cases, the clutch is automatic. The engine is an example of silence, regularity and clean burning.

On the road: A MOTOR BIKE

Suzuki Burgmann 650On this Burgman, one has more the impression to drive a GT than a scooter. The broad windshield diverts the disturbances far from the rider, even with a full load i.e. more than 180 km/h on the counter. Its imposing size moderately makes it like the narrow roads but the layout of the frame confers a beautiful stability to the Suzuki. On the sinuous portions, one uses the sequential gearbox to profit from a true motor brake, a luxury on this style of machine. In short the Burgman is actually much more safe than it appears. Equipped with very powerful headlamps, it fears neither bad weather nor the night. The Burgman is ready to go where one wants it to and especially when one wants to, even at night! It is logical that the Burgman is condemned in town by its size. In spite of its good balance and its very pleasant controls, it is far too heavy and too broad to follow the rhythm of the Piaggio X9 on the small streets, and even more, the measured turning radius is gigantic.
