Silverstone’s new “wing” was the backdrop for the second meeting of the GT4 European Cup with a race format that saw two races on the Saturday for each driver then a 50-minute race on the Sunday with a mandatory pit stop and driver change for those sharing cars.

Stefano D’Aste made an impressive debut in the GT4 European Cup at the weekend, winning two of the three races held at the opening round in Zandvoort, Holland.

Rhesus Racing has announced that Dennis Retera and Jan Joris Verheul will lead its defence of both GT4 European Cup titles in 2011 aboard the team’s Aston Martin GT4.

The entry list for the 2011 GT4 European Cup is steadily building with several new and existing teams pledging their support for the SRO-run championship ahead of the opening round of the season at Zandvoort next month.

British racing car manufacturer Ginetta has announced a new initiative that will provide a host of its teams with free entries for the GT4 European Cup.
