Ryan Villopoto has taken a narrow lead in this season's AMA Supercross championship with victory at Anaheim's Angel Stadium.

James Stewart kick-started his AMA Supercross title challenge with a first victory of the season in Oakland on Saturday, while Eli Tomac scored his second consecutive Western Regional Lites win of 2012.

Ryan Dungey (Rockstar/Makita Suzuki) scored his fourth successive win at Washougal Motocross Park on Saturday, his third triumph of the 2011 campaign and one that moves him to within a single point of the AMA Motocross championship lead.

Feld Motor Sports, organiser of the AMA Supercross Championship, has announced the 17-round schedule for next year’s season, including a return to the Superdome in New Orleans on 14 April.

Ryan Villopoto wrapped up his first AMA Supercross Championship title with a solid podium finish in Las Vegas at the 2011 season finale on Saturday night, clinching the crown by just four points from race winner Chad Reed.
