Sav, i guess thats the nature of touring cars, DTM had an incident that put 2 cars out, and several more were damaged ruining their races from a standing start at Brands on the first lap.
Regarding Macau, they've always been standing starts so far, i'm not really sure that rolling starts make anything worse, it seems that the touring car boys dont want to give any quarter on the first lap!!! They get tunnel vision regarding the first proper corner (is it Lisbon?)
I think the S2000 rules prevent SEAT and Chevy from making better cars, maybe they shuld quit and join DTM!!

From a spectator's view, I see no point of the rolling start.

Standing starts are so much more exciting, the thrill of when the lights go out is unbeatable. Plus the skill of getting the car off the line is the whole joy of it.

Standing starts have no place in the WTCC, this isn't America. Having said that, even Champ Car has moved to standing starts, and it's so much more exciting.

Rolling starts are simply boring and are more dangerous. Even Jorg Muller said that, there are just too many accidents since the rolling start was introduced.

Well its up to the FIA to sort really, the rolling start was political in that it was added to try to take away the rwd BMW's advantages at the standing start and BMW chose the rolling start rather than have even more ballast.

indeed it was the fia trying to cut down bmw's massive advantage but they are just as good rolling as standing. They really should have more weight, look at brno farfus and priaulx had 60kg's more than anyone else and they were still able to cruise past most of the field. :S

Yeah, BMW's starting advantage was the main reason why the rolling start was introduced. But I suppose more ballest would be worse for the BMW's.

I'm a BMW fan, so I don't care about the Seats and Chevy's. ;)
