Motors TV and the WRC breaks new ground

From 2010 the FIA World Rally Championship will expand its coverage on Motors TV and benefit from an unprecedented level of dedication, along with a major boost to the on-board side!

For each of the 13 rounds of the 2010 season, Motors TV coverage will start on Thursday evening with a preview show, followed by a new customized package of on-boards and daily news round-ups on a Friday, Saturday & Sunday evening, and an end of event round-up on the following week-end. (UK COVERAGE WILL FOCUS ON THE 3 RACE DAYS)

But the major change to the coverage will be the amount of on-board footage that will feature in the 48’ long daily highlight shows.

“I’ve always felt WRC’s onboard footage is state of the art”, said Motors TV Head of Programming & Acquisitions, Frédéric Viger, “and while mainstream broadcasters need to make a mainstream show our channel is all about the hard-core fans. Those viewers are willing to BE the driver when watching the coverage on their flat-screens, and that is just what we’re going to offer them. More than 50% of our highlight packages in fact will be dedicated to onboard, giving a brand new feeling to the show.”

“We are delighted to announce the extended agreement with Motors TV”, commented Simon Long, ISC CEO. “The deal provides us with the opportunity to showcase our extensive onboard footage and provide WRC fans with a new dimension of the sport”.

The new 3 year deal signed with ISC/North One Television obviously is a major step in the channel’s development, as confirmed by Motors TV President, Jean-Luc Roy: “WRC is one of only three FIA World Championships, and one of the toughest. It has a very strong appeal to all of our European viewers, many of whom stand along the road sides to cheer the drivers on during the events. The arrival of the WRC will definitely help building the channel’s profile even further and increase our subscriber base. As we’ve done with the Le Mans 24 Hours in the past, we will create a new high standard in term of coverage”.

Motors TV coverage of the 2010 WRC will start mid-February with the Swedish Rally.

FIA WRC –1st round, Swedish Rally: Friday 12 to Sunday 14 February.

This is super news, then we just need the ERC like last year... and Motor Tv is the best chanal in the World. The only dream left is the DASU Rallycross from Danmark, with over 90 Rallycross teams to every Race.  It  is for sale now, for a very good price... (-:

Why is there a 25 minute season preview being shown on Motors TV International and not Motors TV UK?

Looking forward to the championship starting tomorrow.

Where was our preview in the UK???

Watching live now, Picture quality is poor, please use wrc commentary, no offence to simon hill but he is struggling already. If WRC are producing the show then surely they have done commentary on that.

Massive step for MotorsTV, not a good start at all so far.

I am really disappointed with the new coverage.

The announcer's voice is annoying, and way too loud compared to the sound of the cars. His constant pauses as he is either thinking what to say or reading his notes is a major distraction and a major annoyance.

Please turn his volume down relative to the cars. Actually, find the guy that was there for the Eurostar broadcasts, he was much better.

Watching the first 7 minutes of the new WRC on Motors TV, change the logo to transparent guys! Why do they need a camera man, jumping around and running when the cars are parked at the beginning of the stage?! He should be IN the stage rather then just having ONE guy on ONE corner? And fair enough always good to have one at the end of the stage....

A bit too long with Loeb at the end of the stage when he was driving to stop, we don't need to see that, just cut to the interview. Easy.

Helicopter would be good to see more of.... but still only 7mins into the 47 mins of the show...

Commentator.... UGH Don't get me started on this ameteur commentator who know's the simplest things about the WRC, that we know.... yet cannot speak or is reading a script and still has no sense of what is going on.

Come on! Get the guy from the IRC last year who was making it all up on the spot when it was LIVE! not this young guy who can't even talk properly!

More "coments" can be seen here Motors TV

http://www.motorsportforums.com/forums/ ... 865&page=8

Seriously guys, get a new commentator or the old ones back, regardless if it's a new Network broadcasting the shows.....

I stopped watching after 10 mins and couldn't bear it any more. Where was any S2000 coverage? Peter Solberg and Henning? Work on it or loose it. More cameras on stages, less in car coverage exspecially pointing AT the drivers. How exciting seeing a driver driving but not seeing the road itself... it's bad quality and you can't see anything, midas well just show camera angles from the wheels! (Now don't get any ideas) This isn't a step backwards Motors TV, it has never been this bad. Please don't forget about the sound quality, it's horrible, can't hear anything sometimesl I heard it's played in MONO in some instances! Can we get the interviewers, female on I heard to do the comentating?

Good luck for the rest of the year because the IRC/Eurosport are laughing.

Mr Producer/Editor

Sorry – your First attempt of covering the WRC (Friday 12th February 2010) was not good and a long way from my liking.

I read in the Motorsport News a few weeks ago - People like to see more INCAR action, are we sure this is correct?

The programme did not seem to have any flow, split second shots of a car from outside then back in to Incar, whilst I do like to see some Incar coverage it was way too much, and very little action from outside

Commentary – What good things can I say - non

On a more positive note, was the 1 hour long programme – Please try again? Or as many of my school reports stated “Can do better”

Action from the resent IRC Monte was the way to go. (Sorry I know it is a different Championship and TV Channel but it was good, very good)

Waaaay too much coverage of the top 4.

(For the past 3 years the top 4 are usually the same, it is now soo boring that i rather watch curling)

Annoyingly sounding announcer.

(I mean the announcer clearly not a Rally fan, he just does the job and leave, get somebody who is actually like rallying!)

Thank you!

Terrible coverage, rookie announcer with microphone problems. First time I've wanted to fall asleep in 5 years of watching rally.

The picture quality is total garbage, I loved it when it was in HD. I mean, cmon, its 2010, why is there no HD?! Audio sounds like its in mono, not stereo, not sure how I can tell for sure though.

I'm just really disappointed in how this is being presented. Its like watching the first season of the new Top Gear with the awkward fat guy who didn't quite fit it.

Go back to the drawing board, copy everything Eurosport HD was doing and expand on that. Don't try to change something for the worse in EVERY area when people are used to a high quality program.

I mean, how many times did the announcer stumble or stutter? This is a TV show not NPR!

Fix the boringness of the show before fans stop watching. More people will post with the same complaints, it would be better if you fixed it now before it becomes a PR nightmare. Of course, you will likely ignore me or not read this post at all. So I will encourage anyone who is dissatisfied with the current broadcast to post here so that you have no choice but to acknowledge us.

Thanks for trying, but please try again!
