Round three of the 2008 World Rally Championship gets underway on 28 February on the gravel stages of Rally Mexico. The rally made its debut on the WRC calendar in 2004 and has quickly proved to be a popular addition to the series, with a compact series of well-organised, high-speed gravel stages through the Sierra de Lobos and Sierra de Guanajuato mountains and plains around the cities of Guanajuato and Leon. Most stages are over 2000m above sea level and the first leg climbs to more than 2700m, with the cars losing up to 30% power. After the asphalt of Monte Carlo and the (patchy) snow of Sweden, Mexico is the first of three consecutive rounds outside Europe and the first of seven consecutive gravel events. And as loose surface roads are the dominant terrain in the series - hosting 10 of the 15 rounds - Rally Mexico will offer the best form-guide yet for the season ahead.

They'll be going out first which is a bit of a disadvantage but I do hope Hirvonen increases his lead over Loeb.

Subaru has a strong record here so goooooo [!!!!] :)

The Subaru starts weekends quite well...but the pace deteriorates as the weekend goes on.

Subaru has an engine which is the least susceptible to the high altitude's. Can't see that affecting Loeb too much though :(

The citroen team have had a total of 4 engine failiures in two rounds, two of them were on Loeb last time out.

These are lovely figures if you hate Loeb :D

The Fords better win this! >:(

Sordo crashes out in SS1 in Mexico. Loeb had a scare too: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/65392

Jari-Matti Latvala leading, Atkinson second, Galli third and Loeb fourth. :D

Latvala leads Loeb by 4.4 seconds after Stage 3.
Subarus are 3rd and 5th, but Petter is 53 seconds behind already. :S

Loeb's engine should be ready to blow by now, it's been five stages.

Mikko is doing utterly shite at the moment >:(

Jari's pace is fantastic, really very impressive. But maybe we should have expected that, because he drove for Stobbart last year so has got experience with the Focus already.
