V8 supercars should pretty much stay as they are in my opinion. decent rules, close racing proper cars with proper gearboxes. if it aint broke, dont fix it. motorsport is dangerous, participants and spectators do so at their own risk. the only thing i can say is lets have some more research into drivers side protection in ALL touring car racing.

There isnt much needed in alot of touring cars as most are purpose but race cars that are made to look like road cars but the V8's are road cars that have a roll cage fitted.

It's called technology and progress.

My Aussie mates tell me that there are quite a few things in the Supers that are very similar to the NASCAR ones, Watts linkage, front suspension to name just two.

V8 Supercars are not roadcars with roll cages added to them. They are bought in kit form by the teams and built in house around the rollcage. FYI I am a CAMS scrutineer at V8 supercar rounds. They are done this way to make them as safe as possible and to make them easier to repair. The VE Commodore as well as the new BG Falcon also has fully removable front and rear rails so they can be repaired quickly. Also they are no longer welded together they are riveted. Goto http://v8supercar.bigpond.com/ and you can see videos of the new supercar designs.

The unquestionably the finest creation and most complex project we have ever been involved with  is teh design of the cars.
