Awful news about Ralf (sorry Sean! ;) ), but brilliant news about Jarvis and Katherine Legge: http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=1843

Let me point out a few things:

It looks like di Resta's 2008-spec car drive looks safe for this year.
If Ralf steps up to the HWA team next year, it could mean that Schneider will retire.
If Engel will partner Susie at Mücke, he should get a 2006 car, since he's new and inexperienced.
Which could mean a 2007 car for Susie, and here's why:
The 2006 cars for Mercedes are made up of 1 Persson and 1 Mücke car.
Lauda would get a 2007-spec car, and we know la Rosa is out, so that leaves Susie with a 2007 car.

That and di Resta getting a 2008 car is all I'm concerned about! ;)

Ah I like your thinking Mclarenfan, it should work like that though, Susie has been loyal to Mercedes for two years now and done a decent job with that two year old car therefore deserves an upgrade.

Engel of course should get the 06 seat, he is very young and in-experienced. :8

I like your clear thinking McLarenFan, it's nice to see someone put everything into context. Looking at what you have said, it would appear that Ralf will partner Gary at Persson in their two 07 cars, and assuming Lauda keeps his seat for 2008, then he will race the Mucke 07 cars with one other, which I would hope is Susie, with Engel in the 06 car. Looking at this I think we can assume that Margaritis is on his way out, as has been suggested for a while now. It also leaves another 06 seat open at Persson, so I wonder who will get that seat.

Good news that Katherine and Oli are looking likely to get seats at Audi, although it's interesting that Albers is going to Audi, when he had previously raced for Mercedes, especially considering the fact that their is a 06 car seemingly still available at Persson.

It looks done and dusted that Di Resta gets a 08 car, and hopefully he can challenge for the title this year as well.

Yeah Garry did say at the Autosport show that he would like to do DTM, but said he will be doing a lot more Mclaren testing this year as well. Margaritis can't find enough sponsorship money to race in DTM, so yes thats him gone.

Ralf, well I would like to get rid of him before the season starts [lol]

The latter is the most important factor, but being fast helps too! ;)

Well Klien's out of the running for a Merc seat now he's been announced as BMW's F1 test/reserve driver.

Klien was always better suited to single seaters, a good decision for him. I reckon he would struggle in a tin-top.

Hasn't affected Paul Di Resta from becoming a quick tin top driver.

Klien's desperate for a drive - or I think he'll have to do some time in the army apparently ::)

Surely Ralf can afford to buy a pen to sign with ...............Surely........... can't he? :S

Point noted, but I think Di Resta-type drivers don't come around every day. ;)

Ralf can afford to buy about 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 pens if he wanted! ;) [lol]

Well if you had a choice being a DTM driver, or an F1 test driver, you'd take the F1 test driver job, wouldn't you??
Well wouldn't you??
Err, Gary.........

It depends on what a driver wants or whats realistically possible, either to be a a touring car driver or a DTM driver.
