how do you think the cars of today would stand up versus the group c cars, because we seem to be going back to the days of group c cars with the current progression of technology
would the cars like the jags and porsche 962c, saubers compete with audi and pescarolo

IN MY OPINION THE GROUP C CARS ARE FASTER ON THE STRAIGHT BUT THE HANDLING OF TODAY LMP1 IS MUCH BETTER,SO THEY CAN DRIVE FASTER THROUGH THE CORNERS.GROUP C HAD A CARS WITH OUT ELECTRONICS,JUST THE RAW POWER.THEY COULD ACHEIVE OVER 380,400 KPH.

I've had the pleasure of seeing some of the old group C cars race at the Silverstone classic event last year and compared to the modern equipment (Audi R 8 ) seen at last years Silverstone endurance event they are visibly quite a bit slower round the corners, but didn't look much slower down the straights at all.

They are mega fast, your right. The problem is the aero balance. According to Simon Pullan, whose uncle ones the Kenwood Porsche, they are, essentially, a sod to drive and even more of a sod to setup. They have HUGE rear wings and if the balance is off, they are a right handful and you spend more time wobbling down the straights rather than driving straight down them!
To be honest tho, these LMP cars are mega in the bends, and i wouldnt expect they'de be far off an F1 car at all, maybe 2 or 3 seconds around somewhere like Silverstone at the very most! If i remember rightly, when i was timing the GTP cars at the silverstone classic last year, they were in the 1:40 region!
