Watched DTM several times this year and, I have to say, was disappointed. Where was all the rubbing, desperate overtaking manouvers and close racing? Perhaps I am remembering through rose coloured glasses but it seemed very proccessional this year compared to last. I don't remember the races lasting so long or was it just the boredom setting in?
Give me a good old BTCC scrap any day.

Can only hope someone takes up the slack and transmits live coverage in their place. The ITV coverage is too short to show all the action and I would never remember to check when the support races would be shown. If at all.

I do like DTM but IMO it cannot compare with BTCC I would much rather watch the BTCC live and get DTM delayed or record it and watch later. Of all the top level Tin Top series that I follow DTM comes at the bottom of my list with BTCC a firm second behind V8 Supercars.

Even if ITV get the exclusive coverage I'd still watch it 'cos I don't want to miss the racing, whereas I can take or leave DTM.

it was just a suggestion! i'll be watching lms or alms or fia gt or moto gp anyway long before touring cars, but thats me, you like btcc thats your choice and it's a good one, it's just no my first one. it is sad though, hopefully there will be coverage of some of the support races just not live?

Yeah it always gave great exposure for all the support races!! Who cares whether it only atracted an 8% share of the total Btcc viewing figures, Obviously Motors, but then again what are the figures for other races that they show live!

I've tried to get into DTM, but it just does not do it for me, give me the BTCC any day of the week, and make it LIVE, and keep it on Motors TV... plz!!

For goodness sake you inward looking lot, you can see BTCC on anotehr channel!

Have you no idea of how tv works! Why would you broadcast a whole programme when another channel is doing it and getting more viewers and a bigger audience!

Plus most of you live in the UK, go to the damn races then!

I would much rather watch stuff that I cant see anywhere else like AMA Superbike or ALMS or more Busch races or heaven help us even NASCAR!

I know its a raw deal but Motors have said theya re go0nna put other things on that are more world based.

I am sad about the support races though but I would imagine SKY might show a fvew of them, its a rough deal for kids trying to get sponsors to say they wont be on live tv anymore.

But for me there is more to life than bloody touring cars!

I agree, there's also Renault Clio's, Formula BMW, Formula Renault, GT Heritige, Seat Cupra's and Porsche's...

Can't watch them live anymore either? It's not just the touring cars in the whole package we've come to enjoy watching the all day coverage and now it's been taken away from us. All we now get is one live race and two badly put together highlights of BTCC per meeting.

Now thats a compromise. Il glady change my tune is that happened!

But as Sabuka here said, its not just the BTCC we've grown to love on Sunday afternoons. Infact, pretty much every formula on display is more entertaining, and features better driving than the BTCC ona regular basis.

ITV is all well and good, if you just want to watch BTCC, but the fact we miss out on 6 or 7 hours of live racing is not a worthy compromise!

The people who will suffer in all of this though are the small teams who rely on sponsorship to go racing. Losing live TV coverage hurts them a lot more than it hurts us!

Beleive me please teams in the lower classes DO NOT rely on Motors tv for their sponsors to be ther, a few of them might lose a bit of interest byt the vast majority of sonsorship these days is family or work related I reckon

And most of the sponors are not getting into it to advertiseon a two bit tv channel, they are getting into it for otehr reasons, to meet other like minded busunessmen, to socialise and network and to make their faciloity known to people in the industry.

Yes I agree that losing live coverage will be a hit for some, but I dont think grids will suffer, you ahve to remember there was never live coverage befroe and we all managed perfectly well then didnt we?

world based sports? as they would (when racing outside of europe) be in a totally different time zone, they surely could not be shown live during the same time frame as btcc is. so, that really leaves us with european based series for live broadcast during the day on a sunday.

go to the race meetings? part of the reason i don't go is because you don't see the majority of the racing when your at the majority of tracks(brands hatch and rockingham excepted).

only 8%? is that of btcc viewers? it's probably more like 90% of the support packages viewers and it really is them who'll suffer in terms of attracting sponsors.

what specific series motors choose to focus on will be interesting(and possibly revealing).

time will tell if motors has made the right decision.
