How come?
Don't tell me the International GT Open is a substitute. It's a big yawn - 911s and 430s. Wow, how exotic.
Please save some cash, save us from Murray Walker and skip the website redesigns, and cough up some moolah to bring the exotica back.
Who was that ex-driver fellow who used to handle the European rights to Super GT? Anyone remember?

There's been a few of us bitching on here since before the 2008 season started due to the lack of it. It looks like they've gone for euro-yeam GT series instead with their lack of overtaking, along side the usual trains that are called WTCC and DTM.

Yep, it was never announced and it just mysteriously left. It wasn't even mentioned during other sport car live events. Shame though, I need my fix of proper GT racing.

Yep, it's a real shame they lost SGT - maybe they were being asked to pay more with the new GTR coming... LM gone as well - I find I rarely watch any more....

No - Just the 24 Hours.
Both the ALMS and LMS are still live (mostly) on Motors.
Great couple of recent ALMS races, btw.
I miss Super GT, though, would love to have seen the new GTR in action.
Try and get it back for 2009 (or maybe a highlights programme for 2008?).
M.

lms won't be here next year
I liked super gt, shame it left, the problem was the motorstv problem though. For what ever reason mark cole gets stuck commentation on his own and it dosen't work. It's such a shame, i stopped watching because of that!!

To ber honest Mark Cole was becoming a Murray Walker in his mistakes and pronunciation, but as you said he was on his own and I do hope he comes back with it next year.
I think also part of the problem is that while he obviously enjoyed the racing, he did not necessarilly know who the camera was pointing at in the pits (I remember one occasion where he called Tsuchya Keiichi (manager of the Arta Garya, The Drift King, LeMans class winner, etc) Aguri Suzuki (manager of the Autobacs NSX and head of Autobacs racing), and also he did not have enough practice with the names, resulting in him struggling as the action got heated.
Mark if you read the forums, lets hope you get to bring it back next season and Gambatte Kudasai on keeping it here. I'm there are many armchair commentators here willing to help ^^

Just looked at the SuperGT site and it looks like Tsuchya-san is not the manager of the Autobacs Arta Garya this year.

LIke all of you, I miss the Super GT coverage on Motors TV, in which I was involved the past five years. Budgetary constraints meant we had to drop it this year, but hopefully it will be back one day. I am certainly pushing for it.
This is the first time I have been compared to Murray Walker, although I'm not sure whether I should be flattered or not - I saw him at Silverstone over the Classic weekend, and as many of you will have heard, he is still in great voice.
Re pronunciation of drivers and identifying team owners, it's not always easy when you're doing it live, and latterly by myself - but I spent four years in working for Nissan Motorsport as press officer, and went to a number of Japanese GT races in the 90s, so I know many of the drivers and teams from those days. Do I assume from dapprman's post that he is a Japanese speaker?

A very very very poor one, I did study the language for a year and a half and then struggled over there. My comments (not meant to be nasty) came because last year you could tell you were on your own as when some sudden action occured (an overtaking, a crash, etc) on switching across you'd suddenly not complete whole names (which before you'd been fine on).
As I said, it was not meant to be nasty, just emphasising the pressures you were under at the time (gomen nassai).
The Tsuchya-san part was only spotted as I've been a mid to long term fan of his, partly though old LeMans, partly through his Drifting, and partly due to the early seasons you did here and footage on the 'Net from before then (oh and the translations of his motoring TV program).
Gambatte kudasai for next year's season.
