Hey,
I am new to this forum, I joined because I am(as for sure many others are) very curious about Porsches Prototype program next year. Will they enter P1 or only deliver P2 to privateers?
Hey,

All started when rumors started out in the US that Penske-Porsche was in it's last year using Spyders. Penske wanted to compete in Le Mans (as does Porsche) but factoryteams, as Penske is considered, are not allowed by ACO rules. At the same time Audi as announced the R10 is entering retirement soon, so why not fill in Audi's place by a Porsche LMP1??
- Even when the Le Mans 24hrs hadn't finished there was talk about Audi entering GT1 next year with their R8 roadcar. Audi doesn't seem to be as dominant in P1 as they used to be, so for their part, it's a logical shot to say P1 goodbye. Though there are stories Audi will run a biofuel car next year, Dr. Ullrich told. He didn't say in which car he would use it.
- Audi is significantly owned by Porsche so placing the Audi V10TDi in a Porsche isn't a big leap. All the diesel development costs and money won't be lost in this way, Porsche wouldn’t have to spend years of development and millions of euros/dollars.
- Porsche could enter Le Mans as a factory team. It's Penskes desire as it is Porsches.
- Porsche/VAG would have cars competing in every class, something Aston Martin is aiming for. Porsche/VAG could beat Aston Martin on this road: Porsche GT3 RS in GT2, Audi R8 in GT1, Porsche Spyder privateers in LMP2 and a Porsche LMP1 and a Penske-Porsche LMP1, two factorycars. Perhaps even customer Audi R10's in LMP1. Perhaps it would even mean victories for Porsche cars in every class.
I don't think Porsche or Audi want to leave this series as it seems to be on a high, everybody wants to be part of it. Long time since there was such an established driver line-up in both ALMS as LMS. Also mediacoverage and public support are growing rapidly. So this all might seem logical in my eyes.
Please let me hear about your comments!
