If what is written in Autosport is to be believed then Paffett's management have got him a good deal as if he races in DTM in 2007 then he will get a F1 drive in 2008 with a Mclaren-Mercedes B Team which is good news for the bloke who hasn't had much luck of late.

McLaren 'B' team?!

I thought the 2008 line-up was pretty much finalised, what with hopefuls like Eddie Jordan being told to take a hike and only Prodrive given the green light to join.

So which team do we think McLaren are going to take over? I can hardly see a press release anytime soon that McLaren have taken over Ferrari to run it as a 'B' team, lol !!

Prodrive have expressed interest in running customer cars if the rules allow, therefore the could for all intents and purposes be a McLaren B team.

Ade why do you think that Danny Watts is going to get a drive? He has struggled for sponsorship his whole career and the DTM is just about the most expensive thing he could chose to do.

According to Autosport he is likely to return in a 2006-Spec Merc run by the Persson Motorsport squad and Norbert Haug reckons that this year the 2006-spec cars will be able to challenge for outright wins which should be good to see if this is the case

does anyone else think audi and mercedes should just build 10 2007 spec cars rather than this non-scene with 2 year old cars?

it'll be more expesive but they really should do it.

just say a ex merc driver was impressed with him when he drove the merc for the young driver thingy with mac f1 . and since then danny has stayed very good friends with him and now the ex dtm driver is trying to help him get a good ride

Looks like Paffett coming back means that Susie will possibly be in a two-year old car again next year and she said this herself at the Autosport show this morning. This will be a shame if this is the case but I'm sure if she keeps working hard enough then she will get a top drive soon enough.

As for each manufacture building 10 2007-spec cars, I agree it would be much better as the racing would be closer and we would be able to see how good people are in relation to one another, which is quite difficult with three types of car. How ever I'm sure costs would be a reason why it isn't done as well as the time barrier of getting 10 new cars ready for testing, which would be quite a strain on resources.

they are a little bit too much like f1 cars to build a lot of them, maybe if they were more stock that would make it easier.
