Ok, decided to go to Oulton for the first time this weekend for BTCC, just wondered best places to view, take photos etc. The cars are using the Island circuit, was wondering about Knickerbrook as can catch the cars coming through Cascades, guessing its likely to be busy there though. Also whether to take our tent/shelter thing.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on how much of the tyrack you want to see, or if you want to see possible coming togethers. They have removed some of the in field for a corporate off road track so restricted some of the viewing. If you get there early enough there are plenty spots you can see the track from within your car if the weather turns bad.

there is no perfect view for oulton, the in side to the lodge is quite good for photo's but you'll have to be quick but the viewing's isn't always great.
Knickerbrook I haven't actually seen from the out side but it is always very busy and the entrance isn't very easy to get to, that said all the entrances are very difficult to get to.
sorry thats not much help really

Knickerbrooks a great place to view from , but you need to be on the outside of the track.
I usually park near the lodge entrance and walk across the infield. Then just cross the track onn the bridge and walk down.
You can catch then as they exit old hall and run down cascade and then as they then head round towards the hairpin at shell.
They then come into view as they head over the hilltop and then you can see them head up clay hill.
Having said that lodge is another great place to view if you want to see the last ditch overtaking before the race to the line

I am going to Oulton this weekend for the first time (Croft and Donny are my norm).
Is it a ballache to get into? Will I have to allow myself an extra hour to get parked?
I also want to try to get Giovanardis autograph before he bogs off to pastures new when he realises the weather is crap.

parkings easy, finding the circuit isn't. Basically you have to go down some small lanes and the entrances is hidden until you get about 10 metres from it (sorry about the metric)
allow an hour to get there...........that said i went to bsb and bgt/f3 not btcc that might be more difficult to get in, i honestly don't know.

An hour from where Dave? The M6? We're coming from Lincoln, so i guess its gonna be a couple hours drive for us, at least cos it doesnt start til noon, well the racing, means we dont have to be up at the crack of dawn!

the m6 i have no idea about. but the lanes you have to use to get in and out of the circuit are tiny and get blocked very quickly, you could get within a mile and still take a hour to get in.

It could still take a while to get in, I would avoid the main enterance and try for the Island car park if it is open

Just got back...parked infield ( near chequers ) and took 2 mins to get and 4 mins to get out. Traffic was really well marshalled inside and well policed outside..
Racing was top notch..weather err wasnt ..lol . Started hot , then it monsooned and stayed grotty uptill just before the last Btcc race.
Oh and fiona broke parked it just in front of us in race 3 ( wheel bent in i think )...shes cuter than i thought
