I created this topic to have a complete nascar topic.

I picked up some parts of Mr.Menzer's article nascar.com about the last race, could be interesting!!

Anything can happen at any time, especially over the last 100 miles. Five horrible seconds can destroy more than four hours of good work, turning emotions completely upside down and inside out.

and

There is nothing else in stock-car racing like the final 100 miles of the 600. Everything comes into play. Fuel. Tires. The mental toughness and physical condition of the drivers. The durability of the cars, and how they have been prepared.

What a measured drive by Jeff Gordon to come in 4th without a splash and dash. Shows how good he is.

yeah good drive by the 24, and to be fair, the 88.  i had jeff on my fantasy team this week so i was happy with his finish, although to balance that out i did have smoke as well - he must have been fuming to come so close to his 1st win of 2008, leading by 5 seconds, and then lose it all 2 or 3 laps from the end.

i read a month or so ago that some drivers thought 500 and 600 mile races are a waste of time and that most should be 300 or 400 miles maximum.  i disagree and think that there should be some "endurance" races such as the coke 600, along with the road course races (one in the chase would be welcome addition for me)  - a champion should be a driver capable of reasonable success on all types of track, not just 1.5milers...

I'm afraid road courses and nascar do nothing for me.....it just looks so wrong. They're too slow and heavy for the direction changes required.....give me ovals any day!!

Brendan.......where are the pics from Talledega? have I missed em somewhere else?

Today when i was seeing some pictures in my pc suddenly i saw pic of bobby hamilton's burn out in that no.4 truck. i became very sad.

He was the 2004 nascar truck series champion and died of neck cancer on january 7 2007.He was 49.

Does anyone know how his son is doing in truck series?
