After the debacle of 2007 does anybody have any information regarding who has the live tv rights to the 2008 NASCAR Season?[/b]

Havent heard much, hopefully 5 get the 500 again next month

Likewise, although I did learn from error and always sky+ the next two programmes after each Busch and Cup race now....just in case!

Good idea, with V+ you can add 10 mins on the end but thats it

Well, we won't get the Sprint Cup here, unless you're German and can get Premiere. But I do hope our NASN continues with delayed and live Busch Series. I got this channel halfway through 2007 coz it was in the same package as MotorsTV switched to, the more expensive one. If they would lose Busch (oh, I mean Nationwide, still have to get used to it) then I pay like 15 Euros only for Motors.

It seems unlikely given the lack of any mention of it on the website, but we said more or less the same last year and we got it eventually.

5's show was nice in that we got to see the 500 but the coverage was shoddy really, always in the studio which would be ok if they were talking sense when instead they talked simply about cars crashing and wanting to see more of it. Hmmm.

Think Pim may get different stuff from us Ste, being in a different country.

99 times out of 100 Setanta had the Cup races on Setanta Ireland which means Pim wouldn't get them (i dont think!).

I havn't seen any announcements at all regarding this years coverage as yet.

Yes, we don't get the same NASN. Our NASN is the European NASN. They only show the Nationwide Series and that ESPN NASCAR program of which I forgot the name. And I think it's Premiere's coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup that prevents NASN from showing it anywhere apart from the UK. I don't see Premiere losing the series as they are a big channel these days. Even showing F1.

The Nationwide Series is my favorite stock car series, although I only got introduced to it in 01 via Motors. I was watching most races via the NASCAR.com site this year coz Motors coverage was gone. But then I had to buy a more expensive TV package coz Motors moved to it, soon I realized that the version of NASN in that package also included full race replays of NASCAR Busch. And they even did two races live in the latter stages of the season. So I do hope it returns.

PS: I live in Holland, just to clear things up.

Ah, yeh was aware you were from dutchland but interpretted what you said wrong, evidently. From what i understand Premiere is a pretty good channel, shame we dont get it here, wonder if one day we will!

As for NASCAR, if all else fails there is always streaming. Its not legal but there will be somewhere that does it. Or at a push theres a certain torrent site!

On another motorsport forum, one member on there has posted that he rung Setanta the other day and asked them about 2008 Nascar coverage...

They told him that the full Sprint Cup season would be shown live and the full Nationwide season would be shown live or "as live" on ch434 (thats Setanta Ireland to you and me). They also said they would be showing Nascar Now again.

If the above is correct then I am a happy bunny!!

If you remember Stu, we had all this drivel last year, with one person at NASN saying one thing, and another something else entirely, so perhaps you will excuse a tad of scepticism. On the grounds that several comments in agreement look better, I have emailed NASN today for some comment and see if it coincides with what you saw. Daresay I will wait, and wait........
