I have to admit i am abit suprised, but too be honest he is geeting on abit now (i know it doesnt matter so much in Rally driving as opposed to F1 (Fitness). Its abit like Schumi last year he felt he had a chance of taking the title and also the fact where he felt he could go out at the top of his game!
It will be a big loss to loose him!

It is a sad day for the sport imo as Gronholm is a true legend and has won fans the world over, thanks to his great style of driving. He will missed by all I'm sure, and I just hope the likes of Hirvonen and Solberg can step and fill the gap left by his retirement.

Are you mad schumi left cos he worked out he could earn just as much even if he didnt drive. How many drivers in F1 have earned £25 million this year (that what he paid from ferrari)

I understand that, but he also retired as the point he wanted to go out on a high as opposed to being a fading spark "cough Coulthard cough cough".
And he could of easily compeated at the top this year!
