It's been announced that the French Grand Prix will go ahead next season after all, at Magny Cours again . Bernie Ecclestone made a u- turn on his original decision after meeting with the French PM. It's also a possibility for 09.
Obviously more money going in the little dwarf's pocket!

I heard about this.

Personally, I don't mind. The circuit it's self is brilliant, it has many challenging corners. However, it doesn't exactly produce thrilling races, apart from this year.

The manipulative behaviour that Bernie exhibits continues to make me despair.

"When is a race not a race?"
"When Bernie finally decides to give up trying to force the organisers to do whatever is his whim and wants to send a signal to the other organisers on the calendar - scare them into submission" -- BULLY!

No doubt he'll find a way of beating Silverstone over the head over this news.

Would the teams still base themselves in the UK if Britian lost it's GP. If not the loss in talent and jobs for the sector would be huge.

The British GP brings huge economic wealth to the country. It is a esstential for us to have GP.

-Local and national business's benefit hugely
-Brings a certain prestige to Britain
-the majority of the teams are based in the UK
-Motorsport is a british speciality

I keep telling you, Bernie is sensible enough to realise that the only way people will spend money upgrading facilities at, for example, silverstone, is to make htem think they will lose the race. He's sensible enough to realise that getting rid of the british gp altogether would kill the sport and im pretty sure will not let it happen.

But whilst places like silverstone are ran by the current owners, theres only one way to make them spend money on anything other than tea and biscuits and thats by threatening to remove the only event that makes them any money if they dont improve the facilities.

ANyway, Magny Cours back on is great news, im going :D

Why does Bernie moan and groan about Silverstone?

Interlagos and Canada are known to be dumps, far worse than Silverstone. Why doesn't Bernie threaten and harass them? ::)

certainly in the case of interlagos, i can't see them having any money and montreal might have the money but where else in canada would they have a race. Mosport great track, too dangerous, toronto unlikely, Edmunton too short, trois riviers it small, etc, etc.
