Porsche has hit back against the London congestion charge price hike. The German sports car manufacturer is poised to take legal action over plans to increase the congestion charge to £25 a day for 'gas-guzzlers'.
This week the Mayor will receive a letter from the German manufacturer requesting a change of heart, giving Livingstone 14 days to reconsider his policy and respond. If he refuses, Porsche will then apply for a judicial review at the Royal Courts of Justice.
Almost all of the sports car maker's current line up produces more than 225g/km of CO2 the boundary for the higher charge - which could have a massive impact on sales in and around the capital. Porsche believes that the higher charge will also have an effect on the economy by being a deterrent to businesses and potential wealthy inhabitants.
The managing director of Porsche GB, Andy Goss, explained: "A massive congestion charge increase is quite simply unjust. Thousands of car owners driving a huge range of cars will be hit by a disproportionate tax which is clear will have a very limited effect on CO2 emissions."

Well done Porsche, standing up against that f****g bastard.
Ken should read this weeks Autocar, there is a CO2 graph, his daily transport (a taxi) puts out more CO2 than a BMW X5 3.0D - 214 CO2, who said the X5 was a gas guzzler?

its all political, not environmental, just a way of screwing more money out of us.
Wring the individual for all he/she is worth, but leave big business alone, cos they give political parties money.
And dont get me started on the airline industry and avation fuel....

Small, soletrader business are already moving out of London, and relocating elsewhere. So, the London Council just loses tax - so it will effect there pockets slightly too...

The counsil in Leeds are talking about putting a charge on driving into Leeds city centre hope they don't not only for having to pay but it won't do the garage that i work at any good as we would be in the charge zone.

Yes I would shor quite some time, but then you and Chris would overtake me eventually!
Boris Johnson may get elected, because now London residents will be affected, they will lose there 90 % discount on the Congestion Charge and will be charged the same CO2 charge as everybody else - that will make them vote for somebody else!

Carn't see the point to the charge outher than screwing more money out of people who have to use there car or van to work and the CO2 crap is just that Crap the last piece of 'evidence' showed how more poeple had died due to the pollution that would mean i should be dead by now!
