LIVE FROM HOCKENHEIM!

Good morning race fans from Carlton and Mark, live from Hockenheim for today's DTM opener. We're warming up with both races of the Formula 3 Euroseries, the first taped from yesterday at 08.45h UK, the second live at 09.45. There are three British runners - Sam Bird, Jon Lancaster and Martin Plowman - in the 30-car field.

Catch the action and get the feel for the Hockenheimring, before we go live with the DTM at 12.45, for the best racing on Planet Touring Car. There are new A4s from Audi, and a bundle of new drivers: Ralph Schumacher, Maro Engel and Brits Oliver Jarvis and Katherine Legge. Christian Albers, the 2003 vice-champion, is back too.

Audi has claimed the front row with German Timo Scheider and Swede Mattias Ekstrom, but right behind are Mercmen Canadian Bruno Spengler and Scotsman Paul Di Resta, who now has the chance to show what he can do with a current-spec C-Class.

Hopefully, without team orders the bad blood of 2007 between the Four Rings and the Silver Star is a thing of the past, and we will have 11 rounds of pure racing. Tell us what you think here on the Motors TV DTM Forum.

CARLTON KIRBY & MARK COLE

Morning Carlton, Mark

Here we go again - looking forward to the F3, but I think Mercedes are a liitle way behind Audi at thr moment. Hopefully, Audi won't throw any more tantrums if they are caught!

Michael slightly lardy??

and he still squeezes into a F1 Ferrari!

He's not like the 1995 version of N Mansell!

Jon Lancaster will not be starting today, apparently no serious injuries but I guess he´s a bit sore.

Well the Dallara chassis held up superbly didn't it?

The main structure stayed in tact.

Great racing going on at the moment, looking foward to race 2 as well.

Three of the Signature-Plus VW´s are up front, good to see them battle with the Merc´s.

Nice to have the F3 Euroseries back at Motors TV,

actually the world best F3 series are on Motors TV (British is still the 2nd best for upcoming talent).

But the downside to these popular & good media-covered series are always the budgets that are needed to have a go at it,

drivers from little racing countries like mine, Belgium, can budgetly have a go at the spanish, german,.. maybe with a little bit of luck.. japanese F3 championships.

But the Euroseries or british are out of most pilots reach..

Maybe those series should only enter drivers with already some fat lines in there career histories, or had a final position from first to third, or something like that..

For most of the entered drivers this year it looks damn good... but still.. I have my doubts about some 6 drivers, where I think more talented drivers should have a chance..

but that's one of the big downside of our beloved sport I guess..

ART was disappointing with Bianchi, Lancaster and Hulkenberg going out. If Nico´s car will stay together this year I think he´s the favorite for the championship.

I can´t wait to see Renger start from pole. He was complaining yesterday that the handling wasn´t the best but I think he can maybe go for a podium. Also hoping that Henki, other Dutch driver, can make up for his start problems yesterday.

Lancaster apparently not starting because he hurt his left foot and can't brakeproperly - I assume he can't right-foot brake?

Still he said he didn't want the mechanics toiling away on the car only for him to runaround at the back of the field because he can't driver it properly. Probably a sensible move.

I think Hulkenberg will win the championship this year... he is in his 2nd year in F3, with the best team, and dominated A1GP.

However, there are so many drivers in the field that are capable of winning so he can't afford any DNFs like yesterday.

Good morning guys, its great to have DTM & the F3 Euroseries back. I think DTM has it's strongest British contingent yet, Paul Di Resta & Jamie Green in 2008 spec Mercs, Gary Paffett & Suzie Stoddart in 2007 spec Mercs & Oliver Jarvis & Katherine Legge driving for Audi, 6 Brits in a field of 19, thats over 30% of the DTM grid being British!
