I know I'm a bit late, but I only got to see the replay. However I actually registered just to say that I found Tom's crash to be a horrible example of a total lack of car control. He was actually spinning away from the racing line, but made what I can only describe as an extremely stupid decision, putting several other drivers at huge risk!

What scares me even more is the fact that no one actually seem to care. I mean, here's a driver who should have plenty of experience, yet he decides to floor it, sending the car rocketing straight back into traffic when he could easily have recovered the spin and gotten back in the race. Doesn't racing require any car control what so ever anymore???

To be honest, I don't even give a shit if he's ok. That kind of dangerous and ignorant driving doesn't even deserve a racing license!

Just finished watching the re-run and its good to see that the DTM is back in rude health! What a great race to start the season and it looks like nearly everyone could win a race this season.

What a massive accident for Kristensen and not the best way to start his season. I must say I feared a accident on the first lap but thought it would be at the first corner or the hairpin and it surprised me where it happened. Shame that Susie was involved as she was optimistic for the race but I'm sure she'll make amends in the next race.

Interesting to see that Spengler got a 50sec penalty for the contact with Scheider, which I thought was quite harsh considering what people were getting away with last season but obviously the stewards are going to clamp down on that kind of thing this season.

Good to see Ekstrom back on the top step after his dismal performance last season and perhaps this is a sign of things to come this season. A subdued race from Bernd as well and perhaps a sign that this wont be his year as he as in the years when he won the title he won the opener at Hockenheim so a new champion this year? Who Knows?

As for Di Resta's paint work, it certainly ain't the worst I have seen and personally I am a fan of it. Each to their own I suppose

Just watched the race. Great start to the season for Audi apart from kristensen. What a shunt! one of the worst i've ever seen.

Why they left pitstops right to the end i'll neva no. Great job from Di Resta neva the less

I ´ve seen the race now for the second time and I ´m still totally shaken!
What a race!
But imo this is not what we will see the whole season.
The terrible crash, Schneider and Hakkinen so far behind, the pitstops from the Mercedes... ops:

I was a big fan of her driving for the Rollcentre Team, but imo she shouldn ´t be in the DTM. Hey, Allan NcNish and Dindo Capello were nearly as horrible as she is. They went back to endurance racing and she should do the same!

There were a lot of empty seats around the Motodrom.
The DTM-site says that about 101.000 spectators visited Hockenheim.
That is a normal count, but on the screen it looked much less.
C ´mon you fans! Visit the tracks! It ´s a life event

I agree Vanina still seems out of her depth just like last season, maybe Audi should try another female racer, cos Susie looks pretty good for Mercedes and since it was originally done for publicity Audi could be giving a chance to someone else.

In the Daily Telegraph, Kevin Garside made the well-received point that even if Mosley had criticised JYS's comedy music hall trousers, at least they remained round his waist, not his ankles...

Who else could Audi consider though? There aren't many names who spring to mind, but I sure people could come up with some surely?

From Germany it is only Claudia Hürtgen who could do the job!

But maybe there are competitors from other countries.

Well in Britain the best candidate I can think of is Fiona Leggate but it would amazing if she got a drive in DTM. Other than that there are the obvious names such as Danica Patrick or Katherine Legge but would be hard to imagine them coming to race in DTM. There was a rumour at some point in the off-season that Mrs Schumacher was going to race in the DTM but obviously nothing came of that.

Hell No!!!!!
You cannot mean "Cora Schumacher" the wife of Ralf, or do you?

She tried herself in the German Mini Challenge and nearly killed the poor Mini in every race she started!
Ralf isn ´t a good F1 driver and gets too much money, but he belongs far more into F1 than Cora into a DTM car, or any car!!!

I recommend Fiona Leggate too!
