The coverage on motors Tv of the Le mans classic is terrible, i'm watching the second show, they have been racing since this afternoon and we haven't seen any racing yet. The cover the same drivers and cars. Typical of this channel they forget the non famous drivers, the commebtary doesn't fit the pictures, give me a chance i could do better. X

Hi, I have to agree with most of wifeof 's comments.Coverage so far has been terrible.(Up to Sunday 11.45am).Motors TV coverage is normally very good but this programme is definitely not up to standard, especially for an important classic event like this. I hope things improve as the event progresses. This is the most boring report I have seen on this channel,it looks like an amateur's production.

Never thought that MotorsTV could do as bad a job as the Formula 1 guys, but the coverage of the Le Mans Classic 2010 has changed that opinion.
This event takes place ONCE every TWO years, we know it is coming, what the dates are, and even, yes, EVEN, know where it is going to take place. Shock and horror, eh? So can we organise a commentator who was a racing driver from the periods covered. NO. We take a "celebrity" (at least in his own mind), who cannot recognise MOST of the cars there, seems to have done NO RESEARCH, and prefers to talk about the Glastonbury Festival for heavens sake.
how many times did he say something like, "Let's just listen/enjoy/witness the spectacle/noise/beauty/moment of these beautiful examples of motor racing classics", and then has gaps of silence ranging from 6 seconds, 7.5 seconds, 13 seconds, 17.5 seconds and the longest of 30 seconds. WOW, we can really enjoy that, can we not? He shows us the control room for the circuit, "just the bridge of the Starship Enterprise"!!!, and yet MotorsTV cannot edit together something from EVERY corner of the track. There were cars taking part that were the pride and joy of many people and companies, worth millions of Euros, and WE were not allowed to see them. Just think for a moment, you poor under-worked Producers and Directors, if you were at the circuit, standing at one corner, or sitting in one stand, you would see the WHOLE field go by. Is it not beyond your imagination to do that even once? Acceleration, speed, colour, engine and tyre noise are what brings people to watch motor racing.
I don't want to watch a studio waller, "This is my very first time here....." repeated ad naseum, sitting on the back of a truck talking to people he cannot even remotely relate to, while we who tune in to watch the classic cars are bored out of our minds.
Can you imagine the FA Cup presented by a table tennis player, snooker by a clay pigeon champion, rugby by trainers of police sniffer dogs?
GET REAL, MotorsTV, give us the coverage we deserve, cut out the studio boy and put him back in his box. He didn't even have the decency to go back and see how Pesca was getting on, how plain rude was that?

I subscribed to MotorsTV when I discovered they would be showing the Le Mans Classic this year but the coverage was the worst I've ever seen of any major sporting event.
While the racing was going on, we were still being shown the preview programme. When racing was finally shown, half of every programme was taken up with pointless interviews, the only purpose of which seemed to be to pad out the time slot. The questioning was dire; unresearched, rambling and repetitive - it added nothing for viewers.
The racing commentary lagged behind the action so that words and picture were out of sync. by several seconds; the commentator appeared to know little of classic racing beyond the names of the cars. The filming concentrated far too much on just a few cars in each plateau, there was no understanding that these were handicap races - the eventual winning car in Plateau 1 wasn't mentioned or shown once!
The final programme contained a farcical interview with the event organiser, desparate questioning, outtakes left in; it summed up the whole of MotorsTV approach to the event - amateur and cheap.
If there is a de-brief after the event, some heads should roll; this was totally unacceptable.

I recorded the shows, assuming there would be racing. I was invited to take my car to several club stands this year (and two years ago) but was working and thought there would be decent coverage. Strewth!! John Hindhaugh is a nice enough chap, but what a disgraceful programme he presented. And it was repeated repeatedly!! All the coverage I had was exactly the same and I utterly agree with other comments about the commentary not having anything to do with the on-screen picture. I can't say 'on screen action' because there was virtually no action at all.
My own passion, Alpine-Renault, was represented by a number of ex-Le Mans variants and only one named correctly. They are 'AlpEEn', John - it's French!
I'll sum it up in three words: Disappointing, worthless, boring. Let's not bother for 2012, eh, Motors TV. Perhaps they lost a contract.

I too recorded, and watched, every single broadcast of this amazing event. It seemed like being caught in a time loop. Repetition inside each and every programme, woeful lack of knowledge of these superb cars, and, although we saw it ONCE, not one close-up or pit interview of the owners of the Ford Model T that took part in one of the earliest races.
I, personally and thankfully, don't know that "John Hindhaugh is a nice enough chap", what I do know is that MotorsTV chose HIM to front a programme he treated as a jaunt. So I can only assume that MotorsTV does not WANT to cover the race in 2012.
This is the final straw for me, I am ditching my TV supplier, buying a movable sat dish, desktop box and cards for the continent. In Britain, Sky and Virgin use only the Astra and EuroSat satellites, there is available to most of the country another one called HotBird. There are so many Free To Air channels out there, including the French MotorsTV, but the race is also shown on other French channels, and FTA as well.
I agree with "a310man" the Alpines, when in shot, looked fantastic, especially the long-tailed versions, and lets not forget we got no mention of the Alfa's that were there, nor the Porsche 904's or 906's. The Howmet Turbine, which I saw race at Brands in the BOAC 1000kms, was never spoken about.
The sad thing, from what I have seen on the Discovery Channel, is that the world is to end in 2012, but not until December 21st. Pity it wasn't sooner and we would not have our hopes raised that we would see Classic Cars racing on a Classic circuit, and see it carried out in a proper and professional manner.
