The IRL is returning but with big changes from last year. They have merged with Champcar and a number of Champcar Teams have made the move. The biggest name not to make the move is Forsythe. Due to the merger coming so late over the weekend of the 19th and 20th April thier will be two race in japan and at Long Beach. This year Sky will be carrying on thier covage of the IRL with Homestead on at 12.30 on the 29th March. Champion Dario Franchitti left the series he has been replaced at Andretti Green by Hideki Mutoh. Indy 500 winner Sam Hornish Jr has left and has been replaced by Ryan Briscoe. They have both gone to Nascar. Tony Kannan, Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon start as favorites. I'm predicting a Wheldon win but anything could happan. At Homestead I think Tony Kannan will win the Rce

Looking foward to the new IRL season immensely.
I'm not sure wheather Kanaan can win the title, although as a good chance to win in Miami. His fellow AGR teamates are relatively inexperienced, meaning Tony can't compare data with an experienced guy like Dario last year.
I reckon it's gonna be a battle between Wheldon and Dixon for the title - two very experienced drivers in a compeitive, well resourced team.
Newman Hass to win a road course race.
Helio could be a contender, we just never know really...

typical Justin Wilson luck, finally gets to the best team in Champ Car, and now he'll have an uphill struggle with an IRL Dallara with no experience of the car. Still the reunion is best for open wheel racing in North America.

Sure missing the Sebring test is bad, however next week there is another test at Homestead - which Newman Hass are participating in. That's more relevent because nearly all Indy Car tracks are ovals.
Still not ideal, but they will learn...

Just got word that the network that has shown IndyCar here in Sweden the past couple of years has decided to dump it for 2008.
What I feel about this decision, right before one of the most exciting IndyCar seasons in recent years is about to start, is best left unsaid - wouldn't want to be banned due to excessive cursing etc

Well what a shambles that was!! Once again we have Patrick throwing a few hissy fits even before the race began, so no change there then, and all the other underweights/no parts etc. Not very impressed. Even George's cars infringed the rules and were pinged some places. How extremely professional it all is
