Tony George made an offer to the Champ Car Bosses. Free Dallara chassis, free Honda engines and five Champ Car races in a combined calender. The five races are Long Beach, Toronto, Edmonton, Mexiko City and Surfers.
The teamchefs of the champ car teams like this idea. It could be the future for single seaters in ths us.
I really hope it's true and the champ car bosses say yes. That would be brilliant.

I think the Champ Car bosses have such big heads they won't accept it. IRL is actually in a stronger position at the moment they have Honda engines, a secure and decent race schedule, great drivers and live TV for each round in USA.
CCWS won't even get every race broadcasted live in USA, that's when you know things are real bad, Champ Car's home market isn't interested. CCWS may have even less cars on the grid in 2008, because the teams that remain in Champ Car are simply merging together. IRL has at the moment 21 cars for Miami, and maybe be 22 if Sarah Fisher finds more sponsorship for a car.
Doing some research, it sounds as if the European's don't like the blocking rule, and nor do I. Now that race director Tony Cotsman has stood down, maybe that will change...
CCWS is basically a failure, where's IRL has more to offer at the moment...
Less races this year, shows that few people are very interested in CCWS. IRL has one rae less but its likely that Barber Motorsport Park will be added in 09.
Their is very little to get excited about for CCWS...

Of course IRL is in a stronger position but if they don't want to die with Champ Car they maybe have to do this step.
With the best Champ Car races in the IRL calender, teams like N/H/L, Forsythe or Walker in the IRL grid it would be brilliant series.
The only thing they have to get from Tony is a litte bit of his power. With Tony and Gary Forsythe and Keven Kalkhoven there can be nice trippel head leadership. Only Tony at the top would be a mistake.

I think Kalkhoven is much to blame as Tony George, really. I mean he can see CCWS is weak so he could offer to merge both series together, yet he hasn't offered. IRL is stronger, so it makes sense that Kalkhoven offers to Tony.
I agree that IRL and CCWS combined would be awesome, the tracks like Road America, Long Beach and Surfers combined with IRL races. And all the teams.
However, it is unlikely that Champ Car would want to get rid of the DP01 chassis, after they invested much money into the project...

CCWS know that for IRL to really dominate and take over, killed champ car, they need to get their hands on those important 5 races. CCWS wont give those up as they are the biggest races they do.
Its nice to see some dialogue between the 2, though i firmly believe that retaining the IRL chassis would be a very bad move. The Champ car pacakage is much better than that in the IRL, and looks better too.
Certainly though, the sharing of races would be great!

As everyone seems to know, the separation of the two series was the death of single-seater racing in the US as a rival to Nascar, and the only way that this situation can be rectified is to merge back together again. It is good to see that there is dialect between the two sides, which perhaps indicates that they realise that they need one another if they are going to compete effectively against Nascar in the future.
I must say that I can't see the deal being agreed as there is bound to be people who object, but hopefully they will get together and talk over the differences in the hope of a deal in the future.

Exactly, somebody high up is going to reject the deal, I think Kalkhoven will be the one to moan, because it's Tony George who has proposed this deal. Okay I know TG is no saint, but at least he has actually contacted the CCWS management!
Regarding the chasiss, it varies for each type of track. For for example the Dallara chasis on an oval would have the upper hand because its been specifically designed for that use. The DP01 chassis in CCWS would be much faster on a road course, in fact when both series tested together at Sebring, the CC car was up to 2.5 secs quicker than the IRL car.

Autosport is reporting that Carl Hass will move his team to the IRL if a deal to reunite the two series cannot be reached by then
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64852
personally i think tht the CCWS will die in the near future, so its in the best interests of the team owners and everyone else involved to make a deal to try and reduce the impact of that
and i cannot wait to see the series reunited again, and hopefully getting back to something like it was in the 80s and early 90s

Brilliant news, without Newman Hass in Champ Car will die, almost certainly.
Basing one series on IRL rather than CC makes sense, as the series is a lot stronger. Just read thar article, onlt three drivers have actually been confirmed for CCWS - an utter disaster.

If Tony George gets it without giving anything for that, he has what he wants. The best teams of champ car, the fans of champ car and thats without giving anything. That would be brilliant for Tony but Kevin Kalkhoven and Gary Forsythe aren't so stupid and do that. If they give that to Tony, they want to have something from him and I don't think it's only money.

Well Kevin and Jerry have no choice, I mean Champ Car is dying so they should just accept the offer made for 2009.
Their might not even be any CC races this year, you can't have only 3 cars! ![LOL [lol]](http://www.motorstv.com/en/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif) And all the teams that would consider CC can't find sponsorship because barley anybody watches Champ Car.

Of course CC will die if they don't do anything but to give Tony all what they have without getting anything from him is wring. Then Tony has that what he wanted to do with founding the IRL, getting all the american Open Wheel power to him.

I cant see them using two different chassis's, i really cant. Its expensive enough as it is and therefore they need to pick one and stick with it. And if they pick that hideous irl chassis everyone will turn off. Its rubbish on road courses, flips like a leaf in the wind and looks awful too!
