If we can get ESPN Classics on sky/cable why can't we get ESPN or especially ESPN2?
I'm presuming that ESPN Classics is part of the sky sports package? If I'm wrong could some-one put me right.
The other query is ESPN Classics part of ESPN themselves?
I've thought of emailing Sky asking them if it is possible or if they would ever consider broadcasting the other ESPN channels.
It's would be nice to have all the facts before I do email Sky.

I think ESPN CLASSIC is not part of Sky Sports but the same kind of station as MOTORS TV. It is part of Skys news and documentery package.

Thanks, I haven't got a clue we have the full sky package. So I'm never no what channels come under what package.
But it is part of the sky package though? If that's the case then sky could broadcast the other stations?
It's the same with ABC we have one of their channels so why can't we get the main ABC channel?

I could be wide of the mark here but you can't just air a channel from the States without a lot of contractual stuff.
The ABC channel on Sky is vastly different from the States one because some of the ABC shows in the states are already bought and shown by different channels in the UK.
The same would apply with ESPN. I don't have any examples to hand as I don't watch much ESPN when in the States, can't stay off the SPEED channel lol but let's say they had NFL on ESPN in the States (all hypothetical). If the US ESPN aired in the UK they wouldn't be able to show the NFL as the rights are with different people (namely Sky I believe).
Like I say, could be way off the mark, but if and when ESPN air over here I think you will have different ESPN channels to what is shown in the States, some crossover probably but not the whole thing.

I know ESPN used to air in Europe but the schedule of programmes were different.

Before I moved house three years ago,I had a 1.2M motorised dish which could pick up dozens and dozens of channels from all over the world including sports feeds being sent to broadcasters in Europe from the US.
It was always satisfying picking up something you weren't meant to that only a few people in the country were probably doing at the same time.
Since then, you will be pleased to know,I have got a life and stopped being a saddo ops:

Our ESPN Classic isn't the same as the ESPN Classic channel in the US. I had a friend from Florida visiting a few weeks ago and we were looking through my channels when he said 'Oh cool you have ESPN Classic, they show' and he reeled off a load of stuff from the US version, none of which I've been able to find here.
