Yeah well with all this talk of both series merging together, maybe their will be no CCWS this year?

I mean only 4 drivers so far have been confirmed ahead of the Sebring test. :(

IRL already has a full grid for 2008, CC should just give in and let TG take over. IRL has its troubles, but is a much stronger product to sell, with new sponsorship deals being signed.

If this is so, then why have the CCWS just signed a two year agreement with ESPN for television??

Yes but that TV deal only includes tape delays and 4 races a season live. Quite poor that not every race is live.

And if a meger does come, I doubt ESPN would complain!

You cannot expect them to show out of America races in the dead hours, so that is why there are tape delays. Common sense. Of the US races for tape most are scheduled for late afternoon, and there is only 2 late in the evening. Hardly a big deal.

But none of the races which take place in US are actually live, except Laguna Seca.

Also, the deal is for 2008 only: http://www.champcarworldseries.com/News ... p?ID=12477 ;)

I do like CC, don't get me wrong. Its in general things don't look promising. :(

They have 17 confirmed cars, that's not so bad.

Cars note!! My source is an insider in the States whom I cannot name, of course not many bums on seats yet, although I see Rocketsports have signed Bernoldi this week.

I've enjoyed CART/ChampCar since the late 90s when Zanardi was the kingpin of the series, but these last few years haven't been very enjoyable for me personally.

The meagre fields of 16/17 cars, good talents in Ranger, Allmendinger and Hunter Reay being cast aside or lost to other series and the constant chopping & changing amongst drivers & teams have all contributed.

Champ car actually had 6 confirmed drivers for the first test and 14 drivers in total testing.

IRL only has 16 drivers confirmed for this year that is not a full grid.

As bwb says, CC has 17 confirmed cars just waiting for the driver announcements.

2 at NHL
2 at PKV
2 at FPR
2 at Team Australia/Walker
2 at PCM
2 at DCR
2 at Conquest
2 at Minardi
1 at Rocketsports (but he is working on a second)

Walker has confirmed this week that the rumours of him running one car are not true and there driver announcement will come next week.

Conquest will announce their first driver at 12:30 (EST) today.

Bad for both series, really. Not a marvellous situation for CCWS by any means. :(

Frank Mongtny should certainly get the Forsythe seat, he was amazingly quick in testing. :8
