Motors TV have dropped the BTCC & Support Package for 2007. Shame on you! So much for delivering what the viewers want.

i doubt motors has dropped it, i suspect theprice went up 400% or someone else wanted exclusive coverage of btcc i'm looking at you itv and that would leave too many holes and therefore the support races got cut?

Here it is from the horses mouth. Some one has posted the "why?" question to Alan Gow on the BTCC forum and here's the answer...............

As per the article in todays Motorsport News....MotorsTV won't be showing the BTCC or support races next year.

Whilst we appreciate the coverage MotorsTV have given, it should also be put into perspective; their coverage of the BTCC was viewed by only about 8% of the number of viewers that watch our ITV coverage - and in broadcast terms that, indeed, is a very small number of viewers.

To be fair, those small audience numbers that MotorsTV delivered are nearly impossible to justify, (given the very significant costs involved in producing such coverage), and it is perfectly understandable that they would wish to utilise their finite financial resources in a more efficient manner.

Broadcast arrangements (for all sports) change and develop all the time - nothing stays the same forever and this now also gives us the opportunity to explore other broadcast opportunities for the future, which we have not been able to do until now due to MotorsTV's exclusive digital-platform arrangement.

I don't know where they get their statistics from but find the 8% a little unbeleivable.

Shows how much Motors cares about it's viewers really. BTCC and supports have been pretty popular considering the channels nowhere near as widespread as ITV and I very much doubt Motors lose any viewers to ITV, more it's the other way round.

Motors TV, listen to your viewers and show BTCC and supports. Not listening to us will be very harmful to you, advertisers won't want to advertise on a channel that puts off it's viewers, just ask Game Network and look what happened to them.

this is a significant error from motors

The btcc is the reason i, and most people i know, watch the channel.

because of that we watch other stuff - dtm and sportscars, with no btcc, awareness of the channel and what its broadcasting i feel will drop significantly

A channel thats had 2 good series live that intrest british audiences - btcc and champ cars - and has now lost both. (i know the DTM has a rising profile in the Uk, but only cos of motors, interest in which came from their BTCC / CC live coverage which is gone)

Bad move

Hmmm

Friend of mine is driving for Manor Motorsports in Formula Renault next year, and we have no way to watch it now :(

Hope something gets sorted, dont care where it is really but we surely must have the support live in some form!

Yeah.....Gow mentioning their "finite financial resources" leads me to translate the whole statement as "BTCC's on the up, we're raising the price....see ya"

Either that or ITV want them on one of their channels....

I'm p/o'd about it though.....No more Clios with their super fancy new cars...no more live BTCC races one or two.....back to being at ITV's whim....oh great... :(
