I reguarly watch british rallycross on motors and james bird is a family friend, people may recall that he said he was putting a lage chunk of sponsorship money to getting rid of dave bellerby and moving him to the super car class. Unfortuantly bellerby is not only still in the super modified class but is still dominating it, again. I think that it is unfair that he is allowed to compete in a Lotus and dominate the class. F1 became boring for several years with schuey always winning, this is what the super modified class is becoming, boring and dominated by 1 driver. Also, it is doubly unfair that he should be allowed to compete with a lotus and not get banned or asked to use a different car just because he is part of the BRDC . If he wants to race a Lotus, race in the Lotus Exige cup. Pat doran can obviously afford a faster car as he owns lydden hill after buying it off Mclaren, but he doesn't he keeps his focus to keep things exciting and I think that bellerby should get a different car.

I dont think the lotus is the issue or the other lotus in the class would be coming second at every event if it was so good. As for pat doran not buying a faster car cos he can afford it, well done but he been racing a fiesta for about 3 years now as it lighter than his old focus.

yes I know, but what I'm trying to say why doesn't he buy an Aston Martin or a Porsche or something like that and do it up so he always wins

I think what you are suggesting lukey boy is way off the mark, for a starter Dave Bellerby's record pans out somthing like this:

1st BRDA 2000 Modified (first time out in Peugeot 205)

2nd MSA 2003 (Under developed Nova)

1st MSA 2004 (Developed nova - 4th in MSA overall)

2nd MSA 2005 (Peugeot 206)

1st 2006/2007 Lotus exige

You cannot 'blame' the car for his success, he is one of the most talented drivers in the country - if the lotus is so good then how come Mike Dresser didn't do any good with it before Dave/Kevin owned it - also how come GT Jr hasn't mastered it since he bought it off Dave.

Stick Dave in any car and he will show you how to drive it - don't believe me? I bet he could show Jamie a thing or two with that Clio

Also, just because Dave is a director of the BRDA has nothing to do with the car being allowed to run in the Supermodified category - its a mid engined RWD car - exactly the same as your 'family friend' Jamie Bird's Clio V6 - Remember, the BRDA is run by drivers and members, I never heard anyone at the AGM suggesting that the lotus should be banned?!?

Finally, Dave is NOT dominating again, the new car is way less developed than the previous version, is about 150kg's heavier and also about 60bhp down on power - Dave is not taking the 2008 championship as serious as the last few years due to work commitments - lets see what happens this weekend at croft - 2nd time out in a brand new car
