This, my friends, is bad news, mostly!

Infact, the only good news is that the top gear team MAY be involved!

But it seems no Brundle and Ted Kravitz (not fussed really about the rest, though Steve Rider does a good job and James Allen isnt THAT bad, better than some commentators!).

But most irritating of the lot, North One not going to be producing it anymore. This IS a disaster. North One and ITV-F1 have won all sorts of awards since 1997 and they know what they are doing. The BBC's F1 coverage was pretty crap by comparison in the years leading up to 1997 and they have an awful lot of work to do to make a show thats as good as it is on ITV

Favourites including Brundle and Rider to find no room at the inn at Auntie, it seems...

Having won the rights to broadcast Formula 1 from 2009, the BBC has revealed it is to keep production of its grand prix coverage 'in-house', with two names emerging as key players for the major presenting roles.

Radio Five Live commentator David Croft is believed to have been earmarked for the lead commentating spot, according to Pitpass, with BBC stalwart Adrian Chiles set to take over Steve Rider's current position as the main presenter.

Rumours persist that BBC's hugely popular Top Gear team - comprising Jeremy Clarkson, Richard 'Hamster' Hammond and James May, as well as the infamous Stig - will play some kind of part in the shows, but there appears to be little room for any of ITV-F1's current line-up of Rider, Martin Brundle, James Allen, Mark Blundell, Louise Goodman and Ted Kravitz et al.

The confirmation that the Beeb intends taking the production of the programmes in-house also spells the end of the involvement of North One, which has produced ITV's coverage since F1 made the switch across back in 1997.

But the most important bit is that about Martin Brundle. If they lose Brundle they'll lose a big chunk of knowledge that its goign to be difficult to replace (god forbid they get Jackie Stewart along!)

I dont think it really matters!

Sport at present is on whichever channel they can fit it on to!

I wonder what will happen regarding the practice coverage though, will they be on bbc3 etc or online as ITV have had this year?!?

HD must appeal to them though!

I'm sure they won't involve any of the top gear people during the race. Coverage of the race is the most important thing to me and I can't see how it could be worse than it is at the moment.

I think that Jezza will take this more seriuosly than top gear as he is a HUGE Lewis Hamilton fan, but I still think that the rest of the Top Gear crew will calm down a bit. Still, It's  a shame about Martin brundel and the rest of the ITV guys and gals

ok. i heard that hammond is presenting and that ben edwards yoby moody and brundle are the commentary team and top gear are doing a friday night special preview show before each g.p..

also they are resurrecting the chain theme tune and that there is no ad breaks and EVERY session is shown live on bbc3 or 4, with highlights and analysis of the practce sessions on the main programmes on bbc2 and hd

i really dont care for james allen he is terible and thinks he knows more than he really does. as for rider, yeah he is great but he is just a presenter....
my fear is that the beeb will make it more of a one sided thing than itv ever did!!!!
