ALMS LIVE FROM DETROIT
Good evening ALMS fans, and welcome to our continuing coverage of the American Le Mans Series, tonight live from Belle Isle, Detroit, home of Penske and Corvette.
I will be anchoring the live Speed coverage from 19.00h UK through to the chequered, as the two Penske Porsches annex the front row of the grid for what promises to be another tough race for Audi.
The two R10 diesels start from Row 4, having been bested by six LMP2 cars on the tight, concrete-lined riverside street circuit which has not been used since 2001 when Champ Car dropped it from its schedule because of poor access, muddy paddocks and narrowness.
But Roger Penske has put all that right and brought the ALMS here for the first time, together with the IRL. Amazingly Ryan Birscoe's pole would have been good enough for the front row of the IRL grid...
So sit back and enjoy Speed's usual excellent in-depth coverage, and let me know your thoughts - I'll be checking out the Endurance Forum and will give credits where due!

Those lighter LMP2 cars seem to have the edge over Audi once again. Can Audi finally win at a street circuit this year? Hopefully it will be an exciting battle between Audi and the LMP2 cars.
Quite a night ey, first SuperGT highlights (which has excellent racing I recently discovered) and soon ALMS and then NASCAR Busch.
Also looking forward to the IRL race tomorrow. Anyone seen the radical front wing of the Penkse cars

ALMS COVERAGE NOW AT 20H
Despite being scheduled for 19.00h UK, our live ALMS Detroit coverage is now at 20.00h UK - sorry everybody, but it will be worth waiting for! The race start in Detroit is at 15.15 local, not 14.15.

Evening all, feels like a while since i've been on the forums and couldn't miss the opportunity to be on here again tonight for this ALMS. Can't wait for it, if it's anything like the last round at MoSport then we're in for an exciting race. Couldn't believe Audi's luck in the last 10 minutes of the race last time out having the gearbox problems. Hope they come back strong.
@Ringrace - The Audi's did win at St. Pete, it was the last race they won this season before the Porsche dominance.

I just saw a commercial which says that ALMS starts at 21H CET, so like you said one hour later than planned. But will already end at 00.00. From what I read this is a 4H race like RA and Laguna Seca not a 3H race!

They changed this race a month or so back to be a "normal" 2.45hrs one, obviously no one at Motors noticed...

Thanks for the info, Marc. Just got back a little late from a neighborhood bbq and I thought the connection to the US had buggered up, but apparently I'm nicely on time!
