Great news that you have 4 live races during the rest of the year.

The easiest way to know if an ALMS race is going to be live on Motors is to check which station is broadcasting it in the US. If it's Speed then it will be, if it isn't then it won't.

If that's the case, I want Speed to broadcast all of them!

Motors TV is in fact showing seven of the 2007 ALMS rounds live - we've already had Sebring, St Petersburg and Long Beach, and next up live will be Mosport on Aug 26, Detroit on Sept 01, Petit Le Mans on Oct 06 and Laguna Seca on Oct 20.

Bear with us, as you say here it depends on the broadcasters - those that go out live, we show live; otherwise it's the highlight packages, but we try to get those within 24 hours.

Is it really the case that CBS also broadcasts these highlights in America, or are they tape delayed but full?

CBS broadcast highlights on SUnday at 1 pm Eastern... Motors use the same edit ( which is compliled during the live race).

There are live pictures throughout the race - I know I see them, however the problem would be there is no live English commentary form on site as the Americans are voicing short live segments and replays of earlier action for the taped show.

Motors could use the live feed - indeed they have done in the past - and either have commentators in the UK/Paris or use the ALMS Radio.

Obviously this would be a more expensive option as there would be charges for Satellite time (which is about £250 per hour per link) plus commentators and facilities.

Mid Ohio is another Saturday race taped delayed on US Network TV (CBS again) so the only place you can get live coverage of round 7 of the ALMS will be on the Radio.

It was making me rather jealous when you mentioned what you could see on screen a couple of times. But I forgive you... ;)

Thanks for explaining it Hindy. I just couldn ´t believe CBS would actually broadcast these races in highlights in the USA.

ALMS has always been great but this year could have been a breakthrough year but without a decent TV package I don ´t see it happening. There ´s actually a championship battle (whether it ´s fair or not), big teams from other series are becoming front runners and the schedule this year is just FANTASTIC. What more does CBS want.

I do hope that in the future Motors could broadcast these races live again. I really enjoyed watching the full races the last couple of years with you radio guys commentating. It ´s especially tough that races at great tracks like Lime Rock Park and Mid Ohio are not in full. Still there ´s some awesome tracks to look forward to (RA, Petit, Mosport, etc).

Else maybe ALMS should consider live streaming on their website. IRL does it with live IPS and CCWS does it with live Atlantics streaming. IRL has their own commentary while CCWS has the guys from ESPN doing commentary for the parts they want to broadcast.

Thanks for this John. I have to say it was actually fun to listen to the live commentary on 0157 and then relate that to the TV pictures later.... the former was more exciting!

On a positive note, I have to say that I am much more impressed with the commentary team that CBS is using this year. Calvin Fish is always good but I have been surprised by how good Danny Sullivan is. They're not JH of course, but soooo much better than last year!
