The 08 WRC schedule has been confirmed by the FIA: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64205 I suppose its good, at least Monte Carlo, Sweden, Rally GB and others have stayed.

So why does Ireland lose out exactly?

Mad also that Australia isnt on the calender. Just realised it wasnt on this year either which is scandalous as its a cracking rally by all accounts. Too many tarmac events !!!!!

Who knows, the WRC oraganisers are mad.

In 09 their will be no Rally GB, no Monte Carlo or Sweden - completely stupid. Australia returns in 09, but it should be on for next year. ::)

I hope there enough people who are against this rule. Like I said there must be the traditional rallies!

Indeed Fabian, while we are at it lets get Kenya back on the calender too. Another classic event. :)

Kenya would be great like IRC this year.
But I think there was written South Africa. What kind or rally is it?

Yup Kenya was the opening round of the IRC.

Fabian, that rally in South Africa is a classic rally, with the likes of Stig Blomquist competing. My father enjoys watching that a lot.

Fabian, what do you think of IRC?

Personally I think its very good for what it is, a sort of junior WRC series. It is strongly supported by car makers and privateers, I've enjoyed it this year.

Like I said, IRC is the future of rally. In only 2 years say build a really good series with very big grids. And with some traditional rallies and rallies in some poor countries they have a nice calender.

I agree, also another point, IRC goes where WRC isn't going to its unique. Like Kenya, Czech Republic and China - new markets. Which is good, but get some traditional rallies too and you have a great series.

The car makers must like the IRC too, because the S2000 rules are much cheaper than the WRC ones.

WRC has new markets too like Turkey a few years ago, and Jordania next year.
The calender is of the IRC is perfect. Some eateuropean rallies, some traditional and a country that must have a rally since the last few years(oh the gramma is bad), switzerland. A country where road racing is forbitten must have an international rally!

Yes WRC does a have a few new rallies, but IRC seems to have more new events.

Thanks for reminding me about the Switzerland, the roads were just fantastic, glad its staying for next year. :D

We need a Rally GB though, and Germany too. ;)

Switzerland is a country without any racetracks but Hill climbing is very famous. So I don't know why there is any WRC rally.

Indeed, WRC needs to go to Switzerland.

The Jordan rally will be interesting though, from what I've seen its a desert rally, so it will be very tough for the drivers.

Desert rally is nice. Something new in WRC.
