Lloyd wins thrilling Scirocco Cup finale at Hockenheim

Daniel Lloyd took victory in a thrilling final VW Scirocco R-Cup event of the season at Hockenheim.

Brit Lloyd passed poleman Mateusz Lisowski off the line to lead in to turn one, the Polish racer immediately giving chase along with Ola Nilsson.

As the trio scrapped for the lead they were given a surprise by Junior Cup racers Moritz Oestreich and Dennis Trebing, both of whom produced stellar performances to challenge for top spot.

Trebing stunned the regular front-runners by assuming the lead with a seventh lap pass on Lloyd, and looked set to pull off a major shock. However Lloyd was able to come back at him and kept his cool to seal a second win of the year.

Trebing hung on to finish as runner-up with Nilsson completing the podium. The result means the Swede takes second in the end of season standings, behind already-crowned champion Lisowski and ahead of Lloyd.

The title-winner had by far his worth day of the season, though with the crown already his it made no difference that he come home seventh - the first time this season he has finished off the podium.

Of the legends competing at Hockenheim WRC star Juha Kankkunen emerged on top, beating two-time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk and ex-grand prix star Patrick Tambay.
