V8: Seton joins Bargwanna at Bathurst

Kelly Racing will boast one this most experienced line-ups at this year’s Bathurst 1000, with two veterans of  The Great Race joining forces in the #11 Rock Commodore.

Former Bathurst winner Jason Bargwanna links up with Kelly regular Glenn Seton, who will this year launch his 26th assault on the race.

With 39 Bathurst starts between them Bargwanna and Seton stand equal with Carig Lowndes and Mark Skaiffe as the most experienced pairing in the field, and Bagwanna is confident that this can prove decisive come raceday.

“I think this year with Glenn and me in the Rock car, there’s no doubt that with the experience we have between us, we’re in with a good shot,” said Bargwanna, who claimed victory at the 2000 running alongside Garth Tander. “When you look at the amount of podiums that Glenn has had at Bathurst it shows what he is capable of, and I’d be honoured to be able to share his first win there.”

Having missed the 2009 running Seton admits he is glad to be back in action for this year’s race. “Last year was the first time that I've sat at home and watched it on TV for a long time, probably 30 or 40 years, and I didn’t like it!”

“I haven’t really finished my goals at Bathurst. I’ve got close to winning but I've never done it. This year I’d like to have the opportunity to win it with Jason.”

Seton also praised his new teammate, saying “Jason drives like a little terrier dog- if he gets the chance he will be digging at their heels. I’m really looking forward to being a part of that.”

Having started the race from pole twice, claiming second spot on three occasions, Seton makes no bones about his aims for this year’s race. “We are going there to win. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I know Jason is looking forward to the challenge.”

This year’s Bathurst takes place at the Mount Panorama circuit between October 7th and 10th, with last year’s winners Will Davison and Garth Tander looking to defend their 2009 victory.
