Gary Baxter claimed overall victory in round 4 of the V8 Utes Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway to go third in points standings.
The Holden SS Commodore VE driver recovered from a dismal round at Symmonds Plains to climb two places in the rankings, finishing second in race 1, fourth and race 2 and first in the weekend’s third and final encounter.
His race 3 win saw him fighting with Grant Johnson, who finished second for the round after winning the opening race, the two trading places throughout the race.
Layton Crambrook, who claimed a race 2 win on Sunday, finished third in race 3 and for the round and secured second place in the standings. Championship leaders Jack Elsegood held onto his lead, despite only finishing seventh for the round.
Charlie Kovacs finished fourth overall ahead of West Coast Racing’s Glenn McNally in fifth and George Miedecke in sixth.
