Shane van Gisbergen will debut a new SP Tools Falcon as the V8 Supercar Championship heads to Queensland.

Shave van Gisbergen will debut a new SP Tools Ford Falcon as the V8 Supercar Championship heads to Queensland for the seventh round of the year.

The Stone Brothers Racing man will inherit the ex-JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon which has been rebuilt following an accident for James Courtney in the Clipsal 500 earlier in the year.

Having only completed nine races, the car has been completely stripped down and rebuilt in the past four months with the final work completed in time for the car to debut at the Willowbank circuit.

"The new SP Tools Racing Falcon will be a bit different but I don't really know how much different until we practice on Friday," he said. "The major thing will be getting used to the new seating position towards the centre of the car.

"Everyone is really excited about getting this car back on the track. It will be good to be closer to James' car with set ups. Queensland Raceway is probably the circuit that I have the most experience at so we will be able to get straight into it on Friday.

"We will have the same goals as normal, to be inside the top 15 after qualifying and get a result in the top ten. With any luck, that will have us inside the top ten in the championship at the end of the weekend."

Courtney meanwhile will hope for the old adage of 'third time lucky' to come true as he seeks to secure a strong result in the JELD-WEN car.

He was well placed for podium finishes in his two previous starts at Queensland Raceway, but engine problems in '06 and a pit lane penalty in '07 put paid to those results.

"There is a determination in the team to get SBR back on the top step of the podium and Queensland Raceway would be a great place to do it," he said. "It's our home event and we have shown at recent rounds that we have good speed.

"The last two years at Willowbank we have been close but engine problems in '06 and a penalty to me last year took us out of podium positions. If we can get all our ducks in a row we can come out of this round with a great result and climb further up the championship standings."
