SUPERSTARS confirms 34 entries for 2012 campaign


The SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES has confirmed 34 permanent entrants and 17 teams for the 2012 season.

CAAL Racing will continue to campaign a Mercedes C63 AMG as they seek to add to their five teams' titles. Roma Racing Team will join them in fielding a C63, whilst Team Dinamic will field 2010 champion and multiple FIA GT title-winner Thomas Biagi in a BMW M3 E92.

Meanwhile Swiss Team, who ran Andrea Bertolini to a last-gasp title triumph last season, will field three Maserati Quattroporte, whilst Rangoni Motorsport will be on the grid with two Porsche Panamera S machines. Elsewhere multiple series champion Gianni Morbidelli will return to SUPERSTARS full-time in 2012 aboard an all new AUDI RS5.

New teams joining the field include Swiss squad Solaris Motorsport (Chevrolet Lumina CR8), single-seater converts Durango Motorsport (Audi RS4) and San Marino-basec W&D Racing Team (BMW M3 E90).

Johan Kristoffersson took a brilliant double win on Superstars' visit to Imola, the young Swede breaking his duck in the opening run then repeating the feat in race two.

Formula One refugee Vitantonio Liuzzi enjoyed a winning start to his Superstars career at the series season-opening Monza event.

Former grand prix driver and CART race winner Christian Fittipaldi will run selected Superstars Series events this season ahead of a full-time switch to the tin-top championship in 2013.

The SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES has confirmed 34 permanent entrants and 17 teams for the 2012 season.

Thomas Biagi will remain in the Superstars Series this season after agreeing a deal with ROAL Motorsport.
