Zakspeed will run a second Chrysler 300C SRT8 in the Superstars series for youngster Nicolo Piancastelli.
The German-based squad adds a second car to its line-up for the third round at Magione to partner championship leader Pierluigi Martini, who has taken wins in both of the opening rounds of the season.
Piancastelli samples tin-top racing for the first time having raced in the Italian F3 Championship last season. He also has experience in Formula Ford and karting.
“I think racing in the Superstars championship is the best thing for my career,” said Piancastelli. “It has a high profile and a lot of very good drivers to race against. It will be fantastic to be racing in the same machinery as Pierluigi and I am keen to learn from him.
“I remember my father taking me to Mugello when I was around eight years old for a GT race and Martini was racing a Porsche. Watching him was as if I’d been struck by lightning and from that moment on I was obsessed with motor racing.”
The 22-year-old will test the Chrysler in Germany before the next Superstars round in two weeks time.
“The idea is to learn the car properly and then look to fight at the front,” he said. “I fell very motivated and I cannot wait to return to the track.”
