The Aeffem-Romeo Ferraris team will enter a pair of Mercedes C63 AMG saloon cars in the burgeoning Superstars International Series this season.
The Milan-based squad has linked up with series regular Max Pigoli, who ran under the Max Pigoli Team banner last year, and will also run a second car for female racer Michela Cerruti, who switches to touring car racing from endurance events.
The 22-year-old recently graduated with a degree in psychology, and although 2010 will be just her third year of racing, she is looking forward to the challenge of driving the 4-litre, 500bhp machines.
“I followed Superstars with interest in 2009, as it's been an amazing championship,” said the Italian youngster. “Now that I'm finally found my way in I couldn't be more excited. I know I'll be facing some extremely tough drivers, like my all-time favourite Pierluigi Martini. I never had the chance to meet him, but his driving style is really striking.
“In addition to that, I'll have an extraordinary driver like Max Pigoli as a team-mate. I think I'll be definitely able to improve myself by learning from him, and his huge experience. I'm really looking forward to his advice".
Both cars are set to begin a testing programme next month, with Pigoli’s 2009 machine to be updated to the latest 2010 specifications.
