Korjus sticks with Tech 1 for FR 3.5 title assault

Estonian racer Kevin Korjus will stick with the Tech 1 squad for his second Formula Renault 3.5 campaign this year.

The 2010 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup champion became the 3.5 series' youngster ever race winner when he triumphed at Aragon last season, subsequently taking two further wins on his way to an impressive sixth in the standings.

For 2012 he will remain at Tech 1, with team boss Sarah Abadie admitting retaining the teenager was always their intention.

"At the end of 2011 we knew that we would continue with Kevin," said Abadie. "We have got a new car in our workshops now. Everything is better, the build is very nice and the carbon is very good.

"We had received some plans of the car from Renault Sport to allow us to start some work on the simulation, but nothing too deeply.

"We really need to put the car on the track and verify the information to ensure that we not do make any mistakes."

Korjus is backed by Gravity Management, the young driver programme headed by Lotus-Renault F1 boss Eric Boullier. Korjus was amongst the drivers to sample the British squad's grand prix challenger at last November's young driver test.
