EPIC lose Formula Renault 3.5 berth

EPIC Racing have lost their place on the Formula Renault 3.5 grid.

The Spanish squad, who ran Robert Kubica to the title under the Epsilon Euskadi banner in 2005, had feared not making the cut for the 2012 campaign following late-season financial trouble. They ran Albert Costa to a fine fourth in the drivers' standings this term and took the same place in the teams' championship.

However the series has taken the decision not to include them among the 13 outfits given berths for next season. They join Mofaz - who withdrew voluntarily - as the two teams who will not carry over from 2011.

Meanwhile GP2 squads DAMS and Arden have been granted places on the grid. EPIC will join Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup front-runners Koiranen Motorsports as back-ups.
