Sorensen tops second day of 3.5 testing


German F3 graduate Marco Sorensen topped the times on the second day of post-season Formula Renault 3.5 testing at Circuit de Catalunya.

Piloting a Gravity-Charouz machine, the Dane set a best of 1m32.815s to edge out Artur Pic by just 0.035s. The Frenchman switched from 2011 squad Tech 1 to P1 Motorsport for the second day of running,

“I’ve only ever driven a Formula Renault 3.5 once, back in 2009, after my first season in Formula Renault 2.0," said Sorensen

"Today I have more experience, particularly in F3, but there’s a big difference in performance between the two cars."

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs was again showed strong form, ending the day third for Comtec, with day one pace-setter Kevin Magnussen (Carlin) fourth. F3 graduate Daniel Abt (Pons) was also impressive, recording the fifth fastest lap.

Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup champion Robin Frijns (ISR) set competitive times early in the day but dropped to 14th late on.
