WSR: Czech squad takes over RC Motorsport entry

ISR Racing will join the World Series by Renault grid in 2010 after taking over the entry of RC Motorsport.

The Czech team is owned by the family of World Series racer Filip Salaquarda and was founded in 1993. Most recently it has raced in the International Formula Masters series where it finished eighth in the teams’ standings in 2007.

RC Motorsport was a founder member of the World Series by Renault grid and was involved in the championship race in 2006 with Borja Garcia at the wheel of one of its cars. Over recent seasons the team has struggled to find drivers to mount a title campaign and team manager Cristiano Giardina says that the team will concentrate on lower formulae for the foreseeable future.

"RC will continue in Formula 3 and probably Formula BMW,” he said. “Doing World Series as well was becoming a bit too much for me to do all by myself, as I don't have any partners any more.

“World Series is commercial and also political, and with running just one car for most of the year we did not have too much success. I was happy to end the year with Esteban Guerrieri as it showed that we can do a good job.

"We are also looking at doing Formula BMW International. There's a team called Autotecnica, they are Canadian, and have been running for two or three years in the US series.

“With BMW quitting that championship they are trying to find a place in the Euro Series, as they have all the materials. If everything goes to plan we will be a joint venture. I am sure RC will continue for the next 200 or 300 years."

Filip Salaquarda had a one off outing in the World Series with RC at Monaco this season before switching to Prema Powerteam. His father Igor will manage the ISR squad in 2010.
