WSR: Epsilon sign Venturini for FR Eurocup

Giovanni Venturini will race for Epsilon Euskadi in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in 2010.

Venturini steps up from the Formula Renault Italia and Suisse series where he finished third and second respectively in 2009. He also won the Formula 2000 Light series last season and will join the already-confirmed Miguel Otegi and Genis Olivé at the Basque squad. A fourth driver is set to be announced soon.

“I am really happy to become a part of such prestigious team with that much potential,” the Italian driver said. “Their facilities are extraordinary and I am also impressed with the professionalism of all its members. To contribute in the title defence is exciting and a challenge that I assume with enthusiasm”.

Epsilon won the Eurocup title with Albert Costa last season and Team President Joan Villadelprat is happy to add the 18-year-old Venturini to his line-up.

“Giovanni is a driver with a huge potential and it is a pleasure for us to bring him into Epsilon Euskadi’s structure,” he said. “Being a young drivers’ promotional category, we hope to contribute to his performance and we also expect him to add to our development as a team. Epsilon is a big family and without a doubt Giovanni will feel like a part of it”.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Costa, who also won the FR WEC title last year, will step up to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Epsilon in 2010.
