Forsythe to run Indy Lights in 2009

The long-time Champ Car team failed to raise the needed budget for a 2008 Indy Car programme but is now looking at the series’ junior championship for next season.

In addition to a possible ALMS prototype entry the team that saw so much success with Canadian stars Jacques Villeneuve, Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier for years have been running two cars in the Atlantic Championship, this season, and will expand the operation to join Indy Lights for 2009.

Forsythe won back-to-back Indy Lights titles with Greg Moore and David Empringham in 1995 and 1996.

"We're relishing the opportunity to return to Indy Lights," said Forsythe Racing vice president Neil Micklewright. "We have tremendous pedigree in Indy Lights and the level of competition is as high as ever as the series offers drivers the chance to prove themselves."
