CARSINGLE-SEATERINDY LIGHTS

Tagging 'Lights' onto the end might suggest its inferiority but America's second tier of open wheel racing would, in any other country, be considered the evenings main event. I mean, 190mph isn't exactly slow, is it?

Raphael Matos eventually wrapped-up 2008's spoils but it was Briton Dillon Battistini who took the field and industry by storm after slipping in under the radar of even the most seasoned motorsport aficionados to rock what may or may not be an oval shaped boat. Following in his footsteps this year are a minor army of Brits who, seeking their fortune in the Land of the Free, will be hoping to make a similar impact. F3 Euroseries refugee Martin Plowman heads up the invasion force which also features the likes of Pippa Mann and Ali Jackson.

Best bit: Three abreast at close on 200mph, lap after lap.
